Oktoberfest Oktoberfest Oktoberfest.

My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to visit Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany this year. The very common festival, known for its beer and its carnival like setting, is held annually from the last week of September to the first two weeks of October. Rows and rows of beer tents line up from the entrance all the way to the end of the festival. However, with thousands of people in attendance, comes huge long lines for those who don't get there early enough. Not to mention, the tents have certain times during the day where they close so unless you want to get shmoozed out of 30 euros by a security guard to get you in (yes, sadly this happened to me) then I would recommend getting there as early as possible. And yes, even with a reserved table and people waiting for you (which we had) we STILL had to pay to get ourselves in (and no it wasn't allowed). But past the scheming security guards is the very lively, very loud celebration under the tent. The smell of warm pretzels and Bratwursts linger in your nose as the waiters carry trays of food past you. Waiters bring fists full of beer every couple minutes of so but be prepared for a beer to set you back 15 euros (yes expensive, but they are huge..oh and always tip to ensure they come back to your table). The girls and guys are dressed up in the very traditional Bavarian lederhosen and dirndls and one of my favorite parts of going was being able to dress up. Oktoberfest is an amazing experience and I highly recommended everyone to go if they have the chance to. I will say all in all, the Germans know how to party.
